Who new cheap beer could taste so good.

I first met Chris on a team building event in Brussels. I sat beside him on the Eurostar coming home and we got on famously. I didn't know Chris's background at the time and as we were coming back from Belgium, the conversation naturally drifted to beer. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of making disparaging remarks about cheap brews - naming Fosters lager as a prime suspect. Chris then begun to educate me on the intricate process of getting Fosters beer to taste just right - a mix of 8000 different flavours he told me. Chris pointed out that the little gold medal quality mark emblazed on a can of Fosters was largely because of his efforts as a master brewer. Chris (and Fosters) earned my respect right there and then. When Chris did a job he did it right, he was dedicated, determined and passionate. However, everyone loved Chris not for his work ethic and expertise but because he was a really warm, lovely, friendly man. We all loved his Eccles cake eccentricity and the daily updates on his struggle to find a solution to his troublesome septic tank. Above all I remember Chris as being a real family guy. His love for his family shone through every day at work. Chris genuinely cared for the wellbeing of others and was always around when I needed someone to talk to. He will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of having a conversation with him. My deepest condolences to his family.
